Frequently Asked Questions

  • I'd like my son or daughter to be considered playing up an age group. What do I need to do?
    • Playing up an age group is a something that needs to be considered carefully.
    • The considerations aren't just physical, they are mental as well. The player needs to be physically capable of playing with an older age group, but needs to be able to process and handle it mentally as well. Playing soccer is meant to be fun and meaningful. If the player is not ready, then there's a possibility of loss of interest in the sport.
      • If your child is in grade 2 (formally U8):  You will need to send an email to the Coaching Director as well as the Intramural Director and your player's current/last coach.  The Director email addresses can be found on the Board of Directors page.
      • If your child is in grade 3 or above: You will need to send an email only to the Coaching Director (again this email address can be found on same page) and your player's current/last coach.
      • In your email please state your child's name, grade, and your reasoning behind requesting them playing up an age group
    • This will start the discussion with the appropriate parties for an informed decision. This involves the coach's evaluation and the MYSA evaluations when available. If approved by the Coaching Director, he/she will inform the Town Director.
    • When requesting a possible player move-up, have your player attend the evaluation for their age group, not the requested higher age group. For example if your player's age group is Grade 3 & 4 level (formerly U10) and is requesting to move up to Grade 5 & 6 level (formerly U12) have your player attend the eval for Grade 3 & 4 level (formerly U10).
    • If you are making this request during a registration window, then register your player in their normal age group.
    • A request for a waiver needs to then be made to the County for a player to play up an age group. Our process is to have players register in their age-appropriate group and if it's been determined they are capable of playing up, the board will pull them up during rostering to keep the paper trail visible. Otherwise the board could lose track of who needs a waiver and why a child was registered in a non-age-appropriate program.

  • How do I pay for my player's or family's balance?

  • Why do the travel Soccer registration deadlines seem so early?
Each season, the board receives feedback regarding registration deadlines. We understand that the registration deadlines do appear to close quickly. However, the county has deadlines that it requires to have paperwork submitted for rosters by a certain time for each season. Rest assured, there is a tremendous amount of work that goes into registering our children with our league and the County each fall and spring season. Thank you for your understanding!

  • Where can I find if a home or away field is open or closed?
